BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
TOURNAMENT FORMAT:
Single-round robin where every team
meets all the other teams once. The top
four (4) teams shall advance in the cross-over semi-finals where the top 1 team
shall meet the top 4 team and the top 2 team shall meet the top 3 team. Top 1 and Top 2 teams enjoy a twice to beat
advantage over the Top 3 and Top 4 teams.
Losers meet in the battle for 3rd and 4th
places. Winners shall contest the
one-game Championship. In the event of a tie in the rankings, win over the
other and quotient system shall apply.
TOURNAMENT
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
1.
Only
bonafide employees (regular and
contractual more than 6 months COE certified from respective HR) may
represent their team either as player, coach, manager or staff. An official
listing of the team, certified by the Human Resources Head / Human Resources Manager,
must be submitted to the Organizers QC-TIPC before the opening date of the tournament.
2.
Each
team should have a Muse and a Team Banner that will be displayed at the playing
venue and shall be composed of the following:
Maximum of 20 players but only 12 can play every game
Head Coach
Team Manager
Assistant Coach/es
Staff (Utility/Ball boy)
3.
Maximum
of 25 people may sit on the bench every game.
The Head Coach and/or Team
Manager and HR representative shall be responsible for the team’s proper
decorum on and off the court and are expected to attend all meetings called by the Organizers. Bench assignments will be determined by the
schedules prepared. Teams listed on the
left portion of the schedule shall wear light uniform and will be seated at the
left of the officials’ table. Teams
listed on the right portion of the schedule shall wear dark uniform and shall
be seated at the right of the officials’ table.

4.
Players
must be in complete uniform during the game. Colors of the uniform will be
determined during the meeting called by the QC-TIPC Sports Committee. Undershirts,
ballers, earrings and the like are not allowed. To be submitted by the HR the
list of players and photocopies of employees’ ID’s front and back, and a waiver
signed by the players that they are fit and healthy to participate in the said
physical activity. A common form will be
provided by QC-TIPC.
5.
A
team is given 30 minutes before a
forfeiture of the game is declared. Teams that win games also forfeit the game if
it fields-in an ineligible player.
6.
Only
the Team Captain and Head Coach can clarify with the Commissioner, referees and
tournament officials during a dead ball situation.
7.
Any
player who commits an unsportsmanlike conduct or technical foul shall
automatically be replaced by any teammate before actual play can be
resumed. A player or member of the team
who commits two (2) technical fouls or two (2) unsportsmanlike conduct / fouls
and/or combination of both shall be ejected from the game, send out of the
playing court and automatically suspended for the next game. Suspended players are not allowed to sit on
the bench. Two (2) suspensions shall automatically disqualify the offender for the
duration of the tournament. However, the referees may, at their
discretion, eject an offending player immediately on his first offense if he
commits a very grave offense.
8.
No
member of the team under the influence of alcohol or prohibited drugs will be
allowed on the bench. Violation of this
rule shall merit a one-game suspension.
Two (2) violations shall disqualify the team from further participation.
9.
Team
Captains of both competing teams shall sign the official score sheet
immediately after the game. In case of
protests, the rules on filing protests must be strictly followed. In case of
tie quotient system will apply.
FILING
PROTESTS:
1.
The
Team Captain of the protesting team should sign the official score sheet
immediately after the game and the put the phrase “UNDER PROTEST” beside his signature.
2.
The
protesting team has 24 hours to file a written protest to the Tournament Committee
and Organizers.
3.
The
Tournament Commissioner and Organizers shall decide on the protest within 48
hours after the date of filing.
Fighting / bench clearing:
In case of fighting which results into
a free-for-all / bench clearing incident, all players who left the bench shall
be automatically disqualified for the remainder of the game.
Suspensions for the team and/or any
member of the team shall be upon the discretion of the Tournament Commissioner
and Organizers.
TOURNAMENT
COMMITTEE:
1.
Implements
the rules and regulations of the tournament for its smooth and effective
functioning.
2.
Decides
on clarifications / questions raised during the game.
3.
Receives
written protests and, together with the Organizers, decide on it.
4.
Supervise
tournament referees and game officials.
5.
Give
appropriate briefings or warnings to teams behaving in un-sportsmanlike manner.

Best Uniform
These two awards shall be awarded
during the Opening Ceremonies.

- Mythical
Five (5) Selection:
The tournament shall select an elite
list of the five (5) best basketball players for each playing position:
- Point
Guard
- Shooting
Guard This selection
shall be announced
- Small
Forward before the
start of the Championship
- Power
Forward game.
- Center
- Most
Valuable Player (MVP):
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) shall
be awarded after the Championship game.
